Renault Trucks, part of Volvo group, will start making Midlum trucks at the Urals Cars and Motors plant in April, Alexander Kharlov, minister of international and foreign economic relations of the Sverdlovsk region, where the plant is based, said on Thursday.
"The first batch, to be produced in spring, will amount to about 300 trucks. We plan to sell up to 700 trucks before the end of next year," Kharlov told a news conference.
Under a contract between Renault Trucks and Urals Cars and Motors, the Russian company will produce Renault Midlum tricks and use some Renault component parts for Russian trucks.
