A Russian freight plane on Friday delivered 30 tons of humanitarian aid to Venezuela, hit by devastating floods.
"Although we did not ask foreign states for help to deal with the aftermath of the natural calamity, Russia has sent us humanitarian aid, which underscores the wonderful relationship that we have with Moscow," Venezuelan Civil Defense Director Luis Diaz Curbelo said.
An Il-76 cargo plane sent by the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered 70 tents, 2,000 blankets, two mobile power stations and pumps.
"A friend in need is a friend indeed, and Russia has always been Venezuela's true friend," Russia's Charge d'Affaires to Venezuela Vladimir Tokmakov said.
Thirty people were killed and more than 130,000 have been left homeless nationwide by torrential rains as the country is grappling with the worst flooding in decades.
