On Saturday, Sergei Sobyanin visited the Ice Age themed snow town in the Luzhniki sports complex.

The mayor talked to children and their parents and even enjoyed sliding down an ice slide.

The Moscow mayor had enough time for a game of football…

…and to dance with the popular cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants.

Then the mayor visited one of the courtyards on Komsomolsky Prospekt where he joined in a game of ice hockey with the children.

Concluding his Saturday tour, Sergei Sobyanin and Father Frost visited a home for children with special needs, in southwest Moscow.

Recap: Farther Frost arrived in the Russian capital on Saturday and gave a guest appearance on the Kremlin’s Cathedral Square. He then met the residents of a home for children with special needs just outside their building. The VIP guests wished the children a happy New Year and Father Frost switched the fir-tree lights on.

“Today, here in our city, right here with us, we have a special guest, the most magical fairy-tale character of them all, Father Frost from Veliky Ustyug,” Sergei Sobyanin said.

Father Frost told the children that, as he traveled across Moscow, he had been amazed by how festive it looked, and by the number of winter playgrounds and skating rinks. “There are plenty of places where young Muscovites can play sports,” said Father Frost. “The Olympic Games and the Football World Cup are coming up, so get out there, play a lot of sports and win medals for Russia,” he said.

After the ceremony, the mayor and Father Frost went inside the children’s home and saw the arts and music classrooms where the New Year’s party was being held. “I have brought the real, the best, the most magical Father Frost here to you. Tell him your wishes and he will make all of them come true,” the mayor told the gathered children.
