Russia's state-controlled power trader Inter RAO, state-owned hi-tech conglomerate Russian Technologies and U.S. power giant General Electric (GE) will set up joint ventures in the energy and health care sectors, after signing an agreement on Monday.
The firms will set up a joint venture to produce, assemble, sell and service highly efficient industrial gas installations. Russian Technologies and Inter RAO will hold 25% each in the new company, while GE will own 50%. The company will be based in the Yaroslavl region in central Russia.
GE and Russian Technologies will also set up a company on a parity basis to produce, assemble, sell and service hi-tech medical diagnostic equipment in Russia. GE will carry out operational management of the company while strategic decisions will be made by the partners jointly.
The company will start its work by producing computer tomographs. GE will initially supply the company with component parts for medical equipment, but later they will be made by Russian companies.
