Russia's ultranationalist Movement against Illegal Immigration on Wednesday received the go-ahead from the St. Petersburg city hall to hold a rally to commemorate the death of football fan Yegor Sviridov.
The rally, to take place on Saturday, 40 days after he was killed in Moscow, is expected to draw some 1,500 participants.
Spartak Moscow fan Sviridov was shot dead in a brawl with migrants from Russia's mainly Muslim North Caucasus region on December 6.
The incident has sparked race-hate riots and ethnic clashes across Russia, including a brawl between over 5,000 football supporters and police outside the Kremlin walls.
