New Year trees are being taken down in squares and streets across Moscow. Workers have been stripping the New Year trees of all tinsel and decorations, and dismantling the trees themselves. It takes up to three nights to disassemble each fir tree completely.
Illuminated fountains, festive lights and other decorations were all taken down along with the New Year trees. Workers have over 600 different festive constructions to dismantle within a week.
Some 133 illuminated fountains, 18,722 Russian flags, 1,072 posters and billboards bearing New Year’s greetings adorned the capital throughout the holidays.
