Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been summoned to the Milan Prosecutor General's Office for questioning about his alleged relationship with an underage dancer, the Italian Apcom news agency said on Friday.

Earlier on Friday Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera said the Prosecutor's Office had launched a probe into Berlusconi's possible liaison with the 17-year-old Moroccan-born nightclub dancer, known as Ruby the Heart Stealer.

If Berlusconi fails to come to the office on Friday, the prosecutor will summon him on Saturday or Sunday, Apcom said.

The first unmasking articles over Berlusconi's gallant adventures with the minor appeared in Italian media in late October, Corriere della Sera said.

La Repubblica then uncovered that the Italian premier personally contributed to Ruby's release from a police station after she was held on theft allegations in May 2010. He also gave her expensive gifts, including jewelry, watches, a car and 150,000 euros in cash.

"Any girl or young woman, who had visited his villas and watched his habits, can blackmail Berlusconi. He is already obviously unable to foresee it," La Repubblica reported earlier.

Italian police are currently carrying out searches in the houses and offices of those involved in the case, Corriere della Sera said.

If found guilty, Berlusconi could face 4-12 years behind bars.

Berlusconi's spokesman denied all the allegations.
