A host of cars will be displayed at the Brussels Motor Show at the Heysel Palace in Brussels on January 22 and 23. The exhibition hosts have prepared a surprise for car lovers – beautiful women will advertise 50 most luxurious cars. The demonstration is set to become the car show’s highlight.

Using beautiful women to advertise expensive cars is not a novel idea. Advertisers have been using this trick for decades. For example, couples in love and dazzling blondes wearing ultrafashionable coats promoted Russian cars half a century ago.

However, the efforts of models and these two matadors in particular, were mainly aimed at foreign customers. Soviet people did not need convincing to buy a Moskvitch-408 (manufactured outside Russia), since most of them could not afford it.

The Lada Niva ads emphasized the car’s cross-country ability. The blonde in the passenger seat has nothing to be afraid of – she is in a Niva car, the world’s first sport utility vehicle.

The message in the ads was that the Niva was the right car for society divas to take them across snow-covered fields to ski resorts.

The VAZ 2101 was promoted as a family car.

Its advantages were illustrated by the prairies, wild stallions, short skirts and Hessian boots.

Soviet cars could be a great help in attracting a knight in shining armor.

Autumn leaves were meant to emphasize Kopeyka’s golden color.

The stylists used different color tricks to advertise cars in the Soviet era. Photo: the deep emerald color of VAZ 2106 emphasized by the women’s top.

The black Volga in the ads was always driven by a man wearing white clothes. His female companion was dressed in white, too.

A red car was the Soviet woman’s ultimate dream. GAZ-24 ads featured models with fiery red hair

Of course, a stylish red suit was a necessary accessory to a red car

One driver and two beautiful women – you could be in his shoes if you had a GAZ-24

A dazzling woman behind the wheel was a common variation on the theme.
