Six candidates are running in Portugal's presidential election due Sunday.
The two main contenders are 71-year-old conservative President Anibal Cavaco Silva, who appears set to be re-elected in the first round, and 74-year-old Manuel Alegre, leader of the ruling Socialist Party.
The incumbent, backed by the Social Democratic Party, is supported by 54.6% of voters, and Alegre by 22.8%, according to opinion polls.
A total of 9.65 million nationals are eligible voters, but experts predict a low voter turnout.
