Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Wednesday he might propose setting up a fund to attract foreign investment to Russia at the annual World Economic Forum where he will be the key speaker.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Wednesday he might propose setting up a fund to attract foreign investment to Russia at the annual World Economic Forum where he will be the key speaker.

"It probably makes sense to think about setting up a special sovereign fund... to attract... private investment from abroad," Medvedev said in an interview with Bloomberg TV.

The Russian leader said he would "speak about perspectives and advantages of the current state of affairs in the Russian economy, but also about difficulties and problems."

"It is useless to persuade the global business elite that everything is ideal in Russia," he added.

Medvedev was scheduled to arrive on Tuesday but postponed his visit following a deadly bomb attack at a Moscow airport on Monday, which left 35 dead and over 100 injured.

"Unfortunately, my visit to Davos will be short, it was cut to 2.5 hours due to the terrible crime in Domodedovo. But I couldn't afford to cancel my speech here, because such communication is very useful," Medvedev said.

In an interview with the Vedomosti business daily on Wednesday, Medvedev said his speech at Davos was aimed at "anyone seeking to develop economic relations with Russia, invest money in Russia and set up joint enterprises."
