A cow in Russia’s southern Urals republic of Bashkortostan has given birth to four cows in what has been described as an extremely rare occurrence.
“Cows usually give birth to one calf. Two is rare, and three occurs with one in every thousand births. But four - I’ve never seen this before,” regional leading veterinary expert Valeryan Gimranov told RIA Novosti.
Eight-year-old Zoika gave birth to the calves in a village in the republic’s Chimninsky district.
While the calves were half the normal weight of 20 kg for newborns, owner Rail Safin said they were doing well.
