The city was founded in 1854 and currently has a population of 35,000. Although more than 10 million tourists visit Atlantic City every year, it is all but deserted in the winter.
Gambling in Atlantic City inspired the idea for Nelson Johnson's book, “Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City,” and later the popular television series, “Broadwalk Empire,” set during the Prohibition era.
This building, which looks like it is crumbling, is Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum.
