Tiger Vladimir, who was released in Russia's Far Eastern national park last fall, has found its feet in the wild and learnt how to hunt, the country's environmental watchdog said on Thursday.

Tiger Vladimir, who was released in Russia's Far Eastern national park last fall, has found its feet in the wild and learnt how to hunt, the country's environmental watchdog said on Thursday.

The tiger cub was taken to the Russian national park, Udege Legenda, along with its sister-tigress Lazurina in December 2009 after being discovered with severe injuries.

Vladimir was then released in the wild in the September of last year. The scientists said the tiger, who was attached with a tracking collar, has learnt how to hunt wild boars.

"The scientists have found the tiger's footprints and the remains of its meal, a wild boar," the watchdog said.

"The specialists have also found that Vladimir made an unsuccessful attempt to hunt a Siberian stag," the statement said.

The Udege Legenda national park, in Russia's Primorye, one of the country's most biologically diverse regions, was established in June 2007 and has an area of 88,600 hectares.
