Unidentified assailants shot dead two policemen in Russia's restive Dagestan on Wednesday, a police source said.
One policeman died on the spot while the other died on his way to hospital after a police station came under gunfire in the Dagestani capital of Makhachkala.
Law enforcement officials in Russia's North Caucasus republics are regular targets of militant Islamist groups.
