Russia lost their second friendly match in a row on Wednesday evening, losing 1-0 to Iran in Dubai.
In a game of little excitement played out in front of just 3,000 fans, Mohammad Reza Khalatbari scored the only goal in the last minute of the game, shooting past Igor Akinfeev in the Russian goal.
Russia, featuring stars Andrei Arshavin and Roman Pavlyuchenko, created little throughout the 90 minutes.
The defeat followed on from a 2-1 loss at home to Belgium late last year.
Russia's next match this year will be a 2012 Euro qualifier against Armenia on March 26 in Yerevan.
Russia currently top Euro 2012 qualifying Group B with nine points after four games.
