Tunisia will host an international conference to decide its "political and economic transformation," interim Prime Minister Mohammed Ghannouchi told German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday.
Ghannouchi said in a telephone conversation that international cooperation was "indispensable" for the country's future following last month's unprecedented mass unrest that toppled President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali.
"His government will soon issue invitations to a conference at which this process will be discussed in detail," Merkel's office said.
Ghannouchi pledged to hold elections within the next six months during talks with British Foreign Secretary William Hague on Tuesday, as protesters demand that any members of the former government step down.
