Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's Twitter and LiveJournal accounts have been named the best blogs of the Russian-language internet in 2011.

A 2011 Runet Blog award ceremony, which Medvedev did not attend, took place in Moscow on Thursday. Arkady Dvorkovych, the president's aide, received the award for his boss.

Medvedev was also named the best blogger among state officials.

The technologically savvy Russian leader registered on Twitter in June, 2010, during his visit to the United States. More than 191,000 people are currently following him on Twitter. The English version has more than 81,000 followers.

In his Twitter blog, named MedvedevRussia (MedvedevRussiaE in English), the president shares his views of events in Russia and abroad, posts photographs taken by him, and responds to questions asked by other Twitter users.

Medvedev launched his LiveJournal blog in April 2009. It is mainly used for posting videos in which the president speaks about important public issues.
