Egypt's military leadership announced on Sunday its decision to dissolve both houses of the country's parliament and suspend the constitution, a TV report said.
The military rulers will run the country for six months until presidential and parliamentary elections are held, the Egyptian Supreme Council of the Armed Forces said.
Egypt's military leadership took over as President Hosni Mubarak, 82, who ruled the country for almost 30 years, stepped down on Friday after 18 days of heated protests demanding his resignation.
