President Dmitry Medvedev presented Pope Benedict XVI with an enamel painting of the Moscow Kremlin, and informed the curious Pope that he only works in the Kremlin, he doesn’t live there.
Medvedev also gave the Pope a book of correspondence between Russia’s first president Boris Yeltsin and other heads of state, as well as the latest volume of the Russian Orthodox Encyclopedia.
The president’s trip to the Vatican is the first official visit by the Russian head of state since full diplomatic relations were established.
