Eight people were killed and some 60 others injured as armed gunmen attacked a bank in Jalalabad, eastern Afghanistan, on Saturday, the Interior Ministry has said.
Seven militants, including three suicide bombers, attacked a branch of the Kabulbank, Afghanistan's largest private bank, in Nangarhar province, when police were collecting their salaries, a ministry source said.
Ten of those injured are in a critical condition, local hospital officials said.
The gunmen attacked the bank's security before three powerful blasts hit the building.
Several top police officials have been killed, a ministry source said.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
