Russian film director Marina Goldovskaya will make a new film about murdered Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya, Swedish Film Institute, which funds the production, said on its website.
"The Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya was dedicated to uncovering the truth, always on the side of the oppressed, often putting her life at risk. The film paints a complex and intimate portrait of a woman fearless in the face of destiny," the Swedish Film Institute said on its website about the plot's summary.
A Bitter Taste of Freedom, co-directed with Swedish director Malcolm Dixelius, will receive 500,000 Swedish kronor ($78,000) in funding from the institute and is expected to be released in 2012.
Politkovskaya, a fierce Kremlin critic, was shot dead in her apartment block on Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's birthday four years ago.
Her murder, like scores of other killings of reporters and attacks on journalists in Russia in recent years, remains unsolved.
