Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will on Monday hold a meeting of the commission on modernization and technological development of the economy.
The meeting will focus on plans to introduce a universal electronic card to facilitate providing state and municipal services to Russian nationals. The card is expected to be introduced from 2012.
Medvedev proposed establishing a national payment system and introduce a universal card based on it in late 2009.
The card will hold all information on its holder required for any documents to be issued. It will in particular be used in the Internet, in ATMs, banking terminals, public transport, and stores; it will also be used to pay taxes, fines and duties.
