Russian sea border guards at the crossing with Abkhazia will receive two additional vessels in 2011, the deputy head of the Russian Federal Security Service's border guard department said on Tuesday.
The number of the ships operated by the border guards will be increased to eight, Vyacheslav Dorokhin said, adding that there were no plans to further increase the number of vessels.
He did not specify what kind of ships or motor boats the Russian border guards are to receive.
Russia recognized the independence of Abkhazia and another breakaway republic, South Ossetia, following a five-day war with Georgia over the latter in August 2008.
