Rebels who have held power over the western Libyan city of Zenten since the beginning of the Libyan nationwide tumult are currently preparing to resist an assault from governmental forces, Al Jazeera TV said on Thursday.
Governmental forces plan to encircle Zenten, the opposition said. Troops already attempted to storm the insurgent city on Wednesday, but the rebels managed to repel the attack.
Mass riots demanding the end of the regime of the country's strongman, Muammar Gaddafi, have been raging in Libya since mid-February. On Thursday, Gaddafi said the confrontation between authorities and the rebellious opposition would end very soon.
