The international terrorist group Al-Qaeda is among the suspects in connection with a bomb attack that killed 16 in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh, daily Telegraph reported on Friday, quoting Moroccan Minister of Public Affairs Khalid Naciri.

At least 16 people are reported dead after a bomb ripped through a cafe in the main Jamaa el-Fna square in Marrakesh on Thursday.

"All leads will be investigated, including al-Qaeda," Naciri said.

"The investigation continues to find perpetrators, but for the moment I am not prepared to point the finger," he added.

The Moroccan Interior Ministry said the blast was a terrorist act.

Most of the casualties are European, according to the official Moroccan MAP agency.

Forty-one people died in an Al Qaeda attack in the Moroccan city of Casablanca in 2003.

In January this year, the Moroccan government claimed to have broken up an Al Qaeda cell planning suicide bombings in the country.
