Canada’s Patrick Chan, photo, won the men’s world figure skating title with 280.98 points. Chan set world records in the free skate and short program events.

Former champions Pang Qing and Tong Jian of China, photo, failed to hold onto the lead after the short program, settling instead for the bronze.
