On Monday, the Mir-1 and Mir-2 deep water submersible vehicles were loaded aboard a ship in Kaliningrad, Russia’s Baltic exclave. They will be delivered to Switzerland for research work in Lake Geneva and in the flood-lands of the Rhone River.
On Monday, the Mir-1 and Mir-2 deep water submersible vehicles were loaded aboard a ship in Kaliningrad, Russia’s Baltic exclave. They will be delivered to Switzerland for research work in Lake Geneva and in the flood-lands of the Rhone River.
On Monday, the Mir-1 and Mir-2 deep water submersible vehicles were loaded aboard a ship in Kaliningrad, Russia’s Baltic exclave. They will be delivered to Switzerland for research work in Lake Geneva and in the flood-lands of the Rhone River.
The Mir-1 and Mir-2 deep water submersibles are to reach their destination by May 25. Initial dives are scheduled for mid-June. The expedition will last for three months.

The Mir deep water submersibles are kept aboard the Academician Mstislav Keldysh research vessel (home port, Kaliningrad). They became popular all over the world after shooting underwater footage for James Cameron’s “Titanic.”
