A FIFA delegation gave a positive assessment to Russia's preparations for the 2018 World Cup, FIFA said on its website on Friday.
The delegation was headed by Head of FIFA's Commercial Legal Department Joerg Vollmueller.
"We feel extremely positive about our first working visit to Russia. We were very impressed by the quality of the preliminary legal work done by the LOC [Local Organizing Committee]," Vollmueller was quoted as saying.
"We also highly appreciate the commitment of both the executive and legislative branches of the Russian Federation to draft and adopt the World Cup Law. We have no doubts that FIFA, together with Russia, will be able to secure an effective and mutually beneficial legal framework for the World Cup in Russia," he added.
Russia won the right to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup on December 2, 2010, beating bids from England and Spain/Porugual.
Russia has pledged to spend about $10 billion on the preparation for the World Cup, to be held in 13 cities.
