A Soyuz-TMA spacecraft with Russian cosmonaut Sergey Volkov, Japanese astronaut Satoshi Furukawa and US astronaut Michael Fossum onboard is to blast off from the Baikonur space center at 8:00 Moscow time [4:00 GMT] on June 8.

"A total of 43 space experiments in nine areas of research are to be carried out during the expedition," Roscomos said on its website.

The areas of research include physical and chemistry processes in space conditions, geophysics, medicine and biology, remote sensing of the Earth, solar system researches, space biotechnologies and engineering.
