MOSCOW, May 25 (RIA Novosti) - Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday he was worried by Russia's strong dependence on foreign companies, including in electronics.
"Unfortunately, we are strongly dependent on foreign producers in some key or basic industries, on which our country's defense and security depends," Putin said.
"When we speak of national security in the production of milk and meat, or something else, light industry - we can say...the domestic market must produce the bulk of goods for local consumption."
Putin said the defense and national security industries needed electronics industry products most.
"Any products, especially high-tech products, have to be competitive," Putin added.
