Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has dispatched two aides to Washington in an effort to restart deadlocked peace negotiations with Israel, the Alayam daily reported on Monday.
Nabil Abu Rdineh, Abbas's press secretary, and Saeb Erekat, chief Palestinian negotiator, will consider new U.S. ideas to resurrect the political process in the Middle East.
U.S. President Barack Obama recently proposed that Israeli and Palestinian territorial lines be returned to where they were prior to the 1967 Arab-Israeli War.
He said the United States supported the creation of a Palestinian state within the borderlines that existed before the war, after which Israeli forces occupied East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza.
