The Moscow concert of a British drummer, singer, guitar-player, composer and actor Ringo Starr, was been a part of a big European tour, that began last Saturday in Kiev.
The concert was not completely sold-out, although Starr has not been to Russia since 1998. However, Starr proved to his fans that he is more than just the "former drummer” of a legendary band.
The Moscow audience witnessed an accomplished solo singer with a distinct voice and clear, melodic and rhythmic sound, performing together with his own All-Starr-Band.
Decorated with big stars and flowers, the stage set was reminiscent of the hippy-generation with its passion for adventures, light-heartedness and hopes for a better world. Melodic songs with now almost forgotten male back-vocal and virtuosic keyboard pieces sparked nostalgia in the hearts of the audience.
The Beatles hits the audience had been impatiently waiting for were performed at the very end of the show. Nearly everyone danced to I Wanna Be Your Man. The Yellow Submarine was sung by the audience, who of course knew the lyrics by heart.
