A closed Russia-EU Summit was held in Nizhny Novgorod on June 9 and 10. Following the talks, Russia relaxed its ban on vegetable imports from the European Union. Other focuses of the meeting were Russia’s entry into the World Trade Organization and plans to allow visa-free travel between Russia and Europe.
Former army colonel Yury Budanov was shot dead in Moscow on Friday. In 2003, Budanov was convicted of kidnapping and murdering 18-year-old Chechen girl Elza Kungayeva and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was released on parole in 2009.
The TMA-02M spaceship, carrying a new three-member crew to the International Space Station (ISS,) blasted off from the Baikonur space port in Kazakhstan on Wednesday, and docked with the ISS in the early hours of Friday.
