Vixens of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve on Russia’s Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula have given birth to cubs. Fox cubs look a lot like puppies when they are young. They have reddish-brown fur and white-tipped tails.
The cubs examine the photographer curiously. They will grow quickly, and, by the beginning of August, it will be difficult to distinguish them from their adult counterparts.
The brilliant red fur fades as it begins to thin. The summer coat is not very appealing - it is scarce and coarse, and will begin to thicken only at the beginning of fall. It is only then that the foxes will appear in all their glory.
Foxes are inquisitive and brave: they boldly examine the photographic equipment.
