Russia's UTair airlines and Boeing will sign a contract on Wednesday for 40 Boeing 737 NG aircraft, worth an estimated $3.3 billion.
According to a source privy to the contract, UTair had been in parallel negotiations with Airbus but finally chose the US manufacturer.
UTair's fleet currently includes 184 aircraft.
It was reported previously in 2011 the company plans to buy 14 medium-haul Boeing 737s, three long-range Boeing 757-200 airliners, and three regional Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft.
