Russian President Dmitry Medvedev suggested on Friday the State Council examine the issue of the possible decentralization of power.
During the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, Medvedev announced plans to set up a working group to prepare relevant proposals.
"Let's create a working group," Medvedev said. "All of us here, as representatives of the major regions, should make a contribution, send their representatives and prepare proposals for discussion at a State Council Presidium meeting."
The president echoed comments made at the forum by Russian businessman Mikhail Prokhorov earlier on Friday that Russia's current system of governance is unsustainable.
