Participants of a session of foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) member states in Kazakhstan will discuss a new name and an emblem of the organization among the other issues.
The top diplomats and other high-ranking officials are set to discuss policies and changes in the Middle East and Africa, the current situation in Afghanistan and Somalia, as well as the issue of establishing a human rights commission.
The 37th session in Kazakhstan's capital of Astana, which is expected to be attended by over a thousand participants from 57 countries, will last until June 30.
The OIC is an international organization with a permanent delegation at the United Nations. It groups 57 member states, from the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, the Caucasus region, the Balkans, Southeast Asia, South Asia and South America.
The Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers meets once a year to examine a progress report on the implementation of its decisions taken within the framework of policy defined by the Islamic Summit.
