A Gaza-bound vessel from the Freedom Flotilla II is being held in Crete, the Greek Coast Guard said on Thursday, adding that no operation to intercept it took place.

"The Dignite Al-Karama vessel arrived at a harbor near the port of Sitia in Crete, and docked in the port of Sitia in the evening. Port authorities are checking the safety of the vessel and its passengers," a coast guard spokeswoman said.

She denied pro-Palestinian activists' reports that the vessel was intercepted by the Coast Guard at a port in Crete and convoyed to Sitia.

The 19-meter yacht, Dignite Al-Karama, with 12 people onboard was lost after leaving France's Corsica on June 25. Freedom Flotilla activists claimed the vessel was en route to Gaza.

Greek authorities have already intercepted two vessels - the Audacity of Hope and Tahrir - from at least 10 ships in the flotilla.

Human rights and pro-Palestinian activists have been campaigning to end the Gaza blockade, imposed by Israel in the middle of 2006 after Palestinian Islamists abducted Israeli serviceman Gilad Shalit.
