At least 20 people died and over 100 were injured after a train derailed in the Uttar Pradesh state in northern India, TV channel NDTV reported on Sunday referring to official sources.
The tragedy occurred on Sunday in the Fatehpur district when 14 passenger cars of the train heading to New Delhi from Howrah derailed for an unknown reason, the TV channel said.
Railway authorities said at least 150 people are feared injured with several still trapped under the debris, the TV channel said.
All the injured passengers have been rushed to the Fatehpur district hospital, some 17 km (11 miles) away from the accident site. Two relief trains with medical teams, cutting equipment, cranes and engineers have been sent to assist in the rescue operations.
