At least 835 Palestinian teens were arrested from 2005 to 2010 for throwing stones at Israeli soldiers, a report by the Israeli Human Rights organization B'Tselem said on Monday.
According to the report, the accused received jail terms from a few days to 20 months. Only one of the 835 was acquitted. Nineteen of those jailed were under the 14, the lowest age at which a person can be imprisoned in Israel, the report said.
While preparing the report, B'Tselem interviewed 50 minors accused of throwing stones. Thirty of them said that they were taken from their homes by soldiers in the middle of the night and that their parents were not allowed to accompany them.
B’Tselem also reported numerous violations of the human rights of the accused, including torture and banning visits from their relatives.
