Russia's Alexander Povetkin (21-0, 15 KOs) and Uzbekistan's Ruslan Chagaev (27-1-1, 17 KOs) will fight for the WBA Heavyweight Title in Erfurt, Germany, on August 27, Povetkin's manager said on Tuesday.
After Ukraine's Wladimir Klitschko defeated Britain's David Haye in early July, the latter lost the WBA Heavyweight Title. Klitschko, who added the WBA belt to his IBF & WBO titles, then became super champion, and the title became vacant.
"An official confirmation came today from our promoter that Chagaev has signed the contract. The fight will be held on August 27 in Erfurt," Povetkin's manager Vladimir Khryunov told RIA Novosti by phone.
On the same day, WBA & WBO Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion Robert Helenius from Finland will take on Belarusian Siarhei Liakhovich in the co-featured main event.
