Russia's sanitary watchdog Rospotrebnadzor has lifted a ban on import of vegetables from Hungary and Italy from July 25 the service said on Friday.

Vegetables from the two countries can be sold in Russia if importers grant food security certificates indicating that the products have no E.Coli bacteria, the service said in a statement.

Russia introduced the embargo on June 2 after the E.Coli bacteria, traced to vegetables, killed at least 40 people in Europe.

After the source of infection was identified and the EU took measures to prevent the supply of infected vegetables to Russia, the service lifted the ban on vegetable imports from several EU countries. As of now Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Greece and the Czech Republic, Poland and France have permission to exportl vegetables to Russia.
