The cruel treatment of Russian children by their foreign adoptive families has always been a sensitive issue for Russians, and one only exacerbated by the recent Leszczyński case. In an attempt to stop the abusive treatment of children by their adopted parents, Russian and U.S. experts are developing a common approach on the process to ensure the safety of children. RIA Novosti’s Mikhail Yousef in an interview with Sergei Borzov, senior advisor at the National Foundation for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, discussed the difficulties adopted children are subjected to and the ways the new document could prevent them.
