The raising of the Russian cruise ship that sank on the Volga River on July 10 with the loss of over 100 lives has been postponed until morning, officials said.

The raising of the Russian cruise ship that sank on the Volga River on July 10 with the loss of over 100 lives has been postponed until morning, officials said.

Transport Ministry official Viktor Olersky said earlier more work on the main crane was needed.

An official involved in the operation said the ship’s “upper deck has been totally lifted out of the water.”

The operation to lift the ship has been postponed several times in the past few days due to difficulties in attaching lifting gear to the vessel's hull and keeping it upright, as well as poor visibility.

The Russian Investigation Committee said on Friday there were a total of 201 people on board the boat at the time of the accident, and not 208 as previously thought.
