The father of Anders Behring Breivik, suspected of killing dozens of people in twin attacks in Norway, said his son should have turned the gun on himself, The Telegraph said.
'How could he just stand there and kill so many innocent people and just seem to think that what he did was OK? He should have taken his own life, too. That's what he should have done,' said Jens Breivik, 76.
"I will have to live with this shame for the rest of my life. People will always link me with him," he added.
The former diplomat, who was denied custody of Anders after divorce with his mother, had to hire armed guards to protect his remote villa in France. Anders earlier said he lost contact with his father as a teenager.
The father earlier tried to distance from his son, saying he "didn't feel like his father."
During a closed hearing at a Norwegian court on Monday, Breivik, 32, admitted carrying out a bombing in Oslo that killed seven people, and a mass shooting at a Labor Party youth camp on the nearby island of Utoya. Police revised downwards the death toll from both attacks from 93 to 76.
