Kosovo special police forces will pull back from the administrative border with Serbia following an agreement between Pristina and Belgrade, Kosovo Interior Minister Bajram Rexhepi was quoted by KTV as saying on Wednesday.
Kosovo sent special police forces to its Serbian-populated north on Monday to enforce a ban on imports from Serbia, but local Serbs opposed the move.
Borislav Stefanovic, Belgrade's senior negotiator with Pristina, said on Tuesday that he had reached a deal with KFOR for Kosovo Serb police officers to return to the border crossings on Wednesday morning.
According to news reports, special units came under attack from local Serbs as they pulled out in the direction of the northern town of Mitrovica.
A loud explosion was reported in north Mitrovica which is largely inhabited by Serbs.
Serbs in northern Kosovo are the biggest non-Albanian community remaining in the country following the 1998-99 Kosovan war of independence.
