Technical flaws in the railway signaling system were the likely reason of last week's deadly train collision in eastern China's, Xinhua said on Thursday, quoting the country's transport authorities.
Thirty-five people were killed and more than 200 were injured when a high-speed train was struck by lightning and then hit from behind by another fast train in eastern China's Zhejiang province on July 23.
Six carriages derailed as a result and four plunged from a 20-meter viaduct.
According to China's Ministry of Railways, semaphore lights failed to change from green to red after the lightning struck the train, Xinhua said.
