In anticipation of Railway Worker’s Day on August 7, Russian Railways created a unique train – a mobile exhibition and lecture complex presenting innovative products of leading Russian and foreign companies.
Russian Railways exhibited models of modern rolling stock: a gas-turbine train, a freight car to carry coal, an electric passenger train, a diesel-powered train, and a double-decker passenger coach.
One of the coaches at the exhibition and lecture complex is dedicated to nanotechnologies. An interactive exposition by RusNano features the best projects developed by its companies, including energy efficient electricity supply systems (thin-film solar panels with lithium-ion batteries), RFID tags, light emitting diodes and composite materials.
The presentation was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov, Russian Railways President Vladimir Yakunin (photo), RusNano President Anatoly Chubais, and Rosatom Director General Sergei Kiriyenko.
Museum visitors can learn about the history of domestic railway transportation and Russia’s modern railway infrastructure and see models of the airport terminal in the city of Adler and the Baikonur Space Center. The mobile complex consists of eight exhibit coaches and three service cars based on the next-generation compartment carriages produced by the Tver Wagon Building Plant.
