An official account belonging to Ukrainian former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko appeared on Facebook on Friday, however the page will be managed by her press service as the politician is in a pretrial detention center.
Tymoshenko aims to "unite all patriots of Ukraine on one internet platform," the press service said. The politician already has Twitter and LiveJournal accounts.
The former premier was detained on August 5 following a motion by prosecutors. She is accused of damaging Ukraine's national interests by signing "unfair" gas supply deals with Russia as prime minister in 2009 and faces up to 10 years in prison.
The Kiev Appeals Court refused on Friday to accept an appeal against Tymoshenko's arrest.
