Celebrations marking the 90th anniversary of the Tuvan People's Republic took place in its capital, Kyzyl.

The program of celebrations included street performances, a parade, a competition in the Tuvan national form of wrestling huresh, a stone-lifting contest and other events to celebrate the occasion.

International competitions in huresh wrestling took place in Kyzyl from August 12-14.

One hundred and twenty athletes from Mongolia, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Russian republics of Buryatia, Kalmykia, Altai and Khakassia took part in the competitions.

The winners of the wrestling competition received 100,000 rubles each, and the prize for the second and the third place finishers was 40,000 and 25,000 rubles respectively.

Stone-lifting contests were held in the Tos Bulak area, in the suburbs of Kyzyl.

The owners of one of the yurts in the yurt town serve food to guests following the competition for the best yurt.
